Click on “Pro Controller,” then choose Pair.
Back on your computer, your screen should show a list of devices available for pairing. You’ll see text that says “Your PC is searching for and can be discovered by Bluetooth devices.” You can also jump straight to these through a system search for “bluetooth”. In your computer’s PC Settings, choose PC and devices > Bluetooth. In Windows 8, you won’t need to go through this intermediary step-instead, you’ll instantly see a list of devices you can pair with if Bluetooth is on. The bottom of the Switch Pro controller should also show just one square lit in green (typically, the far left one).
A confirmation screen will then appear, affirming that you can now use the controller with the system. The pairing process will begin, with the message of Connecting appearing below the device name. Your system should show a list of devices available for pairing.
Back on your computer, click on Add Bluetooth or other device. Press and hold it until you see the green lights at the bottom of the controller flash in a ripple effect. On the Nintendo Switch Pro controller, find the sync button, which sits next to the USB-C connector at the top of the controller. This should work, but if it doesn’t there’s one more setting we can try. Select change grip order to re-pair the controllers. Scroll down to find the controllers section. Open the Settings page that looks like a gear icon. You have to perform these steps if you paired the controller with the Switch console before the 12.0.0 update.

Something about the update changed the way controllers interact with the system firmware. To fix the issues, you need to unpair the controllers and repair them. So what can you do to fix the problem? The problem has been documented among Power A wireless controllers and 8bitdo controllers, but the problem may exist among any third-party controllers. If you updated to the 12.0.0 firmware, this is probably why the controller won’t connect to the console.
